Set up your monthly gift and join a community of science-minded neighbors, underdog champions, and reformed “EEK!” shouters who are transforming how the world treats snakes: one story, one backyard at a time.
The Den is a monthly giving community for people who believe snakes deserve better stories.
Most people only see snakes in one role: the villain. That story gets snakes killed, fuels bad laws and policies, and leaves scared people without real solutions.
The Den is Advocates for Snake Preservation’s monthly giving community that’s rewriting that script.

When you join The Den, you:
Fuel science-based storytelling that shows snakes as devoted moms, helpful neighbors, and essential parts of healthy ecosystems.
Stop conflicts before they escalate by putting practical, evidence-based guidance into the hands of the people most likely to grab a shovel.
Replace myths with curiosity in classrooms, communities, and online spaces where folklore and fear usually dominate.
Monthly support matters because culture change doesn’t happen in a single news cycle or social post. It takes patient persistence and steady, reliable resources that let us:
- Respond quickly when snakes need a voice.
- Produce new educational content that’s shareable, approachable, and grounded in research.
- Stay with communities over time as they move from “EEK!” to “AWW!” when snakes show up.
Members of The Den aren’t just keeping a nonprofit’s lights on. You’re powering a long-term, evidence-based PR campaign on behalf of some of the most misunderstood animals on Earth. And giving snakes a real chance to be seen, understood, and spared.
What you’ll find inside The Den:
Practical coexistence tools
Regular impact stories
A sense of belonging
Exclusive surprises

Across backyards, hiking trails, and classrooms, members of The Den are:

Sharing our science-backed resources with friends, family, and their community
Helping others coexist safely with snakes, instead of reaching for a shovel
Bringing our materials into schools, libraries, and community programs
Celebrating the first time a neighbor says, “I didn’t know snakes could be… cute?”
From Emily, Den Member:

It has been such a rewarding process to speak to my little one about snake conservation (especially in our rural community where the narrow mindset about snakes is prevalent).
This weekend, she said, “Momma, look snake!”
We watched from afar and talked about having empathy towards the snake, why he was super still, and how we were a part of “their home” in that moment.
She showed the photo to her Gran Gran and of course Gran Gran was like, “oh my, I would have been scared.” In her bravest voice, she said, “I wasn’t. He was so cool, Gran Gran.“

Snakes need more than a one-time rescue. They need a steady chorus of humans willing to speak up for them, explain the facts, and model a different way to respond when fear kicks in.
That’s what The Den is here for — and that’s where you come in.
Add your voice, your values, and your monthly gift to The Den today. Together, we can make it normal, not radical, to see a snake, take a breath, and choose understanding over fear.
Don’t just save a snake today. Help us change how the world treats them forever.
