World Snake Day 2025

July 16 is World Snake Day: an opportunity to celebrate snakes and raise awareness about their preservation. While snakes are threatened by many of the same issues that affect all wildlife (habitat loss, climate change, and disease), negative attitudes toward snakes may be the biggest barrier to their preservation because it often impedes efforts to address other threats.

But 2025 is a Year of the Snake, so we’re doing something bigger this year. Get ready to…

Celebrate the Inaugural Snake Week: 13-19 July 2025!

Snake Week: 13-19 July 2025

Because snakes are too cool to have only one day, right?

Snake Week is a whole week to celebrate the beauty and benefits of snakes!

Snakes are important predators and prey, and their presence indicates a healthy and productive ecosystem. They share many traits that we value in people, like caring for their young and retaining close ties with relatives throughout their lives.

Snake Week offers many opportunities to learn more about our scaley neighbors.

During this week, organizations worldwide are holding special events, in-person and online, to foster appreciation of, and coexistence with, snakes. Check out the calendar of events at SnakeWeek.org to find a presentation, bioblitz, field trip, or other event near you.
